At Alzheimer’s Disease International and Alzheimer’s Disease International London Ltd (“we”, “us”, or “our”), we are committed to respecting your privacy. This document explains when and why we collect personal information about people who visit our website, participate in our events and how we use it and the conditions under which it may be disclosed to others.

Alzheimer’s Disease International (ADI) is the international federation of Alzheimer associations around the world. We are a non-profit organisation registered in Illinois, USA (EIN 36-3366783), although our main office and website hosting are in the UK.

2. How do we collect information from you?
We obtain information about you when you use our website, when you contact us, when you submit an abstract, when you register for the conference, make a donation, and when you sign up to receive news from us.
What type of information is collected from you?
The personal information we collect might include your name, address, email address, IP address, browser type, information regarding what pages you access and when, as well as any information you voluntarily provide by entering it into a form.
If you register for the conference or make a donation online, your card information is not held by us, but is collected by our third party donation processors, who specialise in the secure online capture and processing of credit/debit card transactions.
How do we use your information?
We may use your information to:
By attending an onsite ADI event your name, job title, organisation, country and any other details on your event badge will be visible to all attendees including sponsors and exhibitors.
By using ADI’s conference app or event platform, your name, job title, organisation and other details you chose to populate your event profile with will be visible to all attendees, including sponsors and exhibitors.
During an onsite event if you contact or engage with a sponsor or exhibitor and agree for them to scan you badge, the scanning of your badge gives your consent and the personal data you provided to us (title, first name, last name, organisation, job title and country and email address will be shared with the sponsor or exhibitor, and they may be in contact with you about their products and services outside of the event. You also agree where relevant, these parties may transfer your data outside of the EEA for these purposes and you consent to such a transfer.
How long do we keep your data?
We review our retention periods for personal information on a regular basis. We are legally required to hold some types of information to fulfil our statutory obligations. We will hold your personal information on our systems for as long as is necessary for the relevant activity, or as long as is set out in any relevant contract you hold with us.
At the end of that retention period your data will either be deleted completely or anonymised, for example by aggregation with other data so that it can be used in a non-identifiable way for statistical analysis and business planning.
Your choices
You can choose whether or not you wish to receive information from us by indicating your choices on online forms or as part of transactions with us. After you start receiving communications from us about our work, campaigns and appeals, you can tell us that you no longer want them by contacting us. You can also unsubscribe from email communications by using the link at the bottom of our emails.
Who will your information be shared with?
We will not sell or rent your information to third parties. We will not share your information with third parties for their marketing purposes (although we may promote the services of third parties in our communications to you).
All employees and agents who have access to your personal data and are associated with the handling of that data are obliged to respect your personal data and your privacy. See below for some of the third parties that we work with to provide our website services.

As a US-registered organisation, we work with agents and partners in the US and elsewhere. These countries may not have similar data protection laws to the UK. If we transfer your information outside of the EU in this way, we will take steps to ensure that appropriate security measures are taken with the aim of ensuring that your privacy rights continue to be protected as outlined in this document.
Accuracy, updates and concerns
ADI tries to keep the information we have about you accurate and up to date. If you change address, or find errors or inaccuracies in your data, we will erase, complete or amend that information on request. You can also request a copy of the information we hold about you. Use of Cookies
Cookies are pieces of information that are sent to your computer by our website, in common with many websites. They are stored on your device, allowing us to recognise you when you next visit. If you do not want cookies to be stored on your computer, it is possible for you to disable them in your browser settings. Our website uses services from third parties which include cookies, as noted below.
Third parties
We may pass your information to our third-party service providers, agents, subcontractors and other associated organisations for the purposes of completing tasks and providing services to you on our behalf (for example to process donations and send you mailings).
This website uses Google Analytics, a web analytics service provided by Google, Inc. Google Analytics uses cookies to help us analyze how users use the site. The information generated by the cookie about your use of the website will be transmitted to and stored by Google on servers in the United States. This information will include your IP address, but we have “IP Anonymization” enabled, which means that Google will remove part of the address as soon as possible and it will not be stored. Google will not associate your IP address with any other data held by Google.
Google Analytics uses the information for the purpose of evaluating your use of the website and compiling reports on website activity. Google may also transfer this information to third parties where required to do so by law, or where such third parties process the information on Google’s behalf. You may refuse the use of cookies by selecting the appropriate settings on your browser. By using this website, you consent to the processing of data about you by Google in the manner and for the purposes set out above. Google’s privacy policy applies to the data collected.
Cloudflare, who provide a service to accelerate and secure our website, may include cookies with our pages to provide a better service. Cloudflare’s privacy policy applies to the data collected (referred to as “End Users”).

We also link to other websites which we do not have a direct relationship with, and we cannot be responsible for the privacy of data collected by other websites.
Account deletion
If you wish to have your conference related accounts deleted, please contact us by sending an email to events@alzint.org with the subject line “Account Deletion request, providing your username, email address and any other necessary information to help us identify your account.
For security reasons, we can only delete accounts that come from the email address that we have for the account. If the request comes from a different email address, we will require additional information to verify your identity before processing your request. This is to ensure that the request is legitimate and made by the account owner, or authorised representative in special circumstances.
Upon successful verification, we will initiate the deletion of your account.
We may retain certain data for legal, regulatory, or operational purposes, even after your account has been deleted.
Deletion of your account will result in the loss of access to any services, products, or content tied to your account. Once deleted, you will not be able to recover any data or content associated with your account.
We reserve the right to refuse account deletion requests if they violate our Terms of Service or if there are ongoing investigations or legal matters related to your account.
Review of this policy
We will review and revise this policy from time to time. We may choose to just update this page, or to announce changes more widely, as appropriate. Continued use of our system implies acceptance of the updated policy.
